For Recruiters
As a rational economic actor, I constantly engage with recruiters. The reason for this is price discovery for the rate at which I should exchange my services on the open market. Also, if lucky, I might find a new employer, and you would receive appropriate compensation for your services of matchmaking. Here are some ground rules when you engage me:
No phone calls. In an age where we can land rockets on floating barges, surely we can manage recruitment without reverting to 19th-century communication methods. I commit to replying to any messages and emails in under 24 hours if we are engaged in a process with a company.
Let's be realistic about compensation. While in British polite society it is considered rude to disclose my current salary, we all know money is a key part of the discussion. Numerous data points are available on Levels.fyi for both IC and manager roles at my current level offered by my current employer. I heavily discount discretionary bonuses and financial instruments issued by private companies. While I appreciate the potential upside of RSUs, early-stage equity requires a significant illiquidity discount and I would rather be on the investor side.
Our time is valuable. My opportunity cost for interviews is nontrivial. I aim to limit engagements to a select few with a high probability of mutual fit. I don't mind a long interview process as it is in the benefit of both parties to know each other better, but expectations should be clear at the beginning of it.
London is my city. The probability of me considering other locations outside of it is so small, that it is futile for me to put a price on that event. Though I remain open to persuasion by a sufficiently compelling compensation package, of course.
I like working in an office. In what is considered anathema by my industry colleagues, when remote work is all the rage, I find that in-person collaboration works best for me. I would have no qualms with a 5-day in-office position.
My resume is available upon request by emailing me at alex.palcuie@gmail.com or by sending a DM on LinkedIn. Please provide context on the role and the company – generic outreach yields low signal-to-noise ratios.
